Day 18 - At Sea

Though unexpected, it’s nice to know that we can have a relaxing day at sea to “make up” for yesterday. It wasn’t all that enjoyable yesterday and this is kind of nice. We spent the night in the lee of Sardinia and Corsica. Still windy (did I mention that it got to hurricane-force winds over the bow yesterday?) but the waves were cut from 25-40 feet down to 5-10. A 130,000 ton ship with stabilizers makes that feel like a gentle roll.

We woke to a wonderful sunrise over what DH says was Elba and Capraia (you may remember Elba as the island where they sent Napolean for his first exhile). Then we turned West into the Ligurian sea with great views of the coast.

The kids put on a show for us on the main stage. The ship has a group of four street dancers who had been giving them lessons at Camp Carnival over the last week.

In addition, we were able to sail into Monoco about 12 hours early and the adults took the opportunity to leave the ship and go see the sights at night. You can see almost the entire country standing at the port… the palace up on the hill (complete with the Prince at home on one side and the casino on the other).
