Day 4 - Apartments in Rome
The new apartments are lovely. Sparsely decorated, but when you come in with
enough groceries and luggage for 12, you don’t need lots of other things
cluttering up the place. They are 2
apartments, each sleeping 8 with 2 bedrooms, 2 futons, 2 bathrooms, main room. The laundry is on each floor, and since we
take up half of it, there won’t be too much competition for it. That’s a good thing b/c one high efficiency
washer/dryer (over/under) unit is going to be slow going. We did learn that the
Ikea in Pisa could not have been the first in Italy… because virtually
everything in the apartment came from Ikea. There must be one in Rome. J
There was some discussion about where everybody would
sleep. Futons moving, dining
tables/chairs moving… one room sleeps 3, one has 2 singles & a set of bunkbeds…
it makes for a little rearranging… but easy enough. There was also a bit of a discussion with the
owner about whether or not the rooms had been paid for. MIL assured him they had, but the Principal
had to set up the laptop, get the Internet password, etc. Email is a blessed thing in this day of
technology. Problem solved.
The other neat thing was that the lady that came with the
owner was the woman that will come back next week to show some of us how to
cook some “real Italian” food. I know Riboletta
is on the menu, I’m not sure what all else… but it sounded delicious. Elisabetta speaks very good English and the
girls adored her.
