The kids & I got back to the room and they were finishing getting ready and by the time we ventured out to where the pool was… the ship was apparently in the middle of judging the “Best Men’s Legs” Contest. Dh wasn’t amused (ROFLOL!) so we took the scenic route around a couple of decks hoping to find a “kiddie pool” of sorts so the girls would be tall enough to swim on their own… no such luck. However, when we got back to the regular pool, the competition was over and the kids were given permission to jump into the rather chilly water.
The boys got in and then Sweetie attempted to swim all the way across on her own (to demonstrate to DH what she was learning at the Swim/Gym class they take most months) when she realized too late that it was too far. DH, being ever alert leaped the little barrier/seat next to the water and landed in the pool to lift her up. Certainly not how he wanted to enter the frigid temperatures… but a Dad’s gotta do what a Dad’s gotta do. Doodlebug was testing the waters and re-thinking her strategy anyway, so Sweetie got a little more “Dad time”.
The pool didn’t last long and the kids were eager to go back to Camp Carnival, so we got them changed back into play-clothes and over to the play area… then DH and I journeyed over to look at the photos the ship photographers seem to snap at every opportunity. Few, if any, turned out decently… and even now we’re not sure we’ll take advantage of any of them… still, it was good to find them on the wall.
Tomorrow we’ll be in Sicily and the kids are quite thrilled about that. All they know is that it’s “The ball that the boot is kicking”… but at least they know that, right?
A few images of the "little things" that make this fun for the kids. Anyone who has taken a cruise knows to expect them, but the kids have never been on a cruise.
