An entire day to do whatever you want on a ship… WOW! Breakfast was again, “Whatever you want” and then the kids opted to go to the “Kids Area” and seemed to have a blast. DH and I … opted to just sleep – LOL! Picked the kids up for lunch and then had a couple of hours to waltz around the ship… and in 55 degree weather, the girls convinced the boys that what they needed to do was change into swimsuits and go down the waterslide! The water wasn’t heated and I figured they’d touch their feet to the water, change their minds and I wouldn’t have to hear about it for the next 10 days. I’m not that lucky – LOL!
The girls wore their “Camp Carnival” bathrobes across the ship and then got wet by pulling on ropes and going down the “little slide”… then the boys opted for the bigger slide … and LOVED IT! Other passengers are staring in amazement at the fun the kids were having (Or the idiocy of their parents for letting them ride on a waterslide on the 12th deck of a ship that’s actually underway in 60 degree weather and 20 kn winds) and then, even Sweetie decided to be brave enough for the “medium” slide. After confirming the 3 older ones were tall enough to go on the “big slide” at some later day, we went back to the stateroom, changed the kids clothes again and took them back to “Camp Carnival” again for a couple of hours. DH, fighting off a cold, went back to sleep and I walked the ships “People Watching”.
Picked up the kids again, and while dh watched them, I got in the laundry line to iron the boys’ clothes b/c tonight is “Elegant Dress” night. Not sure how “elegant” the boys would be, but their Easter clothes seemed appropriate, but needed pressing. Returned to get them all dressed for dinner and we went off to the “Meet the Captain” area of the ship before dinner. DH and I decided to “recreate” a photo we had taken on our first cruise 14 years ago, and after having a couple of shots taken, we enter a “lounge” to find FIL dancing on the dancefloor with Sweetie and Boo-Boo paired up with Doodlebug… and they were actually doing quite well. A lot of “fuddy duddies” were looking on… and when they completed their dance, DH went out with Sweetie and FIL danced with MIL. It was VERY cute.
Dinner afterward and then Doodlebug went back to “Camp Carnival” for the “Princess Party” while the rest of us journeyed off to the “Show” against my better judgment. It began with a “meet the staff” time and then there was LOTS of singing and dancing… but sadly no plot or character development. I fear I expected too much. The kids were fascinated though, and the crew had clearly worked very hard… an hour later I was picking Doodlebug up in her pink crown, purple scepter and Fruit Loop necklace with her asking to “stay just a little longer”.
Tomorrow is Venice… and we’re hoping they’re NOT flooded at the moment. Thankfully we’ll arrive at “low tide”… and we’ll hope it’s low enough to eliminate the flooding.
Hey Jenn!
